The division I work in develops complex Web applications for government agencies and nonprofits concerned with education, health, and the sciences. As Senior Interface Designer I participate in requirements defintion and take a lead role in the information architecture, UI design, and also often visual design for our projects. I work closely with database designers, software developers and project managers, and my deliverables need to speak equally clearly to all of them and the client as well. In addition I conduct heuristic evaluations and contribute to proposals.

Procedures Analyst
User Technology Associates, Inc. (Arlington, VA)
November 1996 to August 1997

As a Procedures Analyst on a contract with the Bureau of Labor Statistics I was hired to help the Office of Publications create The Monthly Labor Review Online. This work included designing and building the Web site, creating an archiving system, and developing procedures for desktop publishing staff to use in the production of both the print and Web files.

Proposal Systems Coordinator
Green Spring Health Services (Columbia, MD)
May 1996 to November 1996

Hired to implement a networked knowledge management system for supporting writers and managing the proposal development process, I developed a full-text indexed, hypertext linked proposal database using Folio VIEWS (an SGML-based document management system). As project lead I coordinated data conversion, developed the task flow, and designed the GUI. I also wrote documentation which included an online Help system and file management protocols.

I designed newsletters, manuals, brochures, banners, catalogs, organizational charts, invitations, presentations, and other corporate media. Interactive projects included a marketing catalog designed for field office distribution via USF&G's WAN.
